When you're shopping for a family vehicle, you want something that balances comfort, space, and dependability and Buick SUVs have earned a strong reputation for delivering all three. If you’re looking to upgrade your family’s vehicle for your life in Portland, Oregon, the current lineup gives you a lot to consider. From compact crossovers to 3-row haulers, the best Buick SUV for families really depends on your household size and daily needs. 2026 Buick Encore GX - A Smart Pick for Smaller Families The 2026 Encore GX is a great starting point for couples or families with one or two children. It seats up to 5 passengers, making it one of the more accessible Buick SUVs in the lineup and it stays budget-friendly, getting up to 30 MPG combined. The pointed trim lineup offers something for everyone, including the Sport Touring trim which brings a little attitude, and the elegant Avenir trim with leather seats, a Black Ice grille, and premium sound system. The Encore GX is a practical, refined choice for everyday driving without feeling like you're giving anything up for its maneuverable size. 2026 Buick Envision - The Midpoint That Gets It Right For families who need a bit more room without going full-size, the 2026 Envision hits a comfortable middle ground. You’ll have comfortable seating for 5, a 228-hp turbo engine, and standard Intelligent all-wheel drive with an active twin clutch perfect for driving in Oregon. While it’s more robust than the Encore GX, it’s still sized for convenience and economy, giving you up to 25 MPG combined. With over 25 cu. ft. of cargo space for everyday needs when you have a vehicle full of passengers, and a max of 52.7 cu. ft., you have plenty of space for a busy week. 2026 Buick Enclave - The Best Buick SUV for Families Who Need Space If your family needs real room - think car seats, sports gear, and a full grocery run all at once - the 2026 Enclave is your match. It seats up to 7 passengers over 3 rows in a cabin that feels more like a premium retreat than a typical family hauler. A 30” Ultrawide display combines your information center and infotainment system, which includes Google Built-in. That allows you to use voice commands with Google Gemini in a system that continually grows more intuitive to your needs. A 12-speaker Bose® sound system, heated leatherette front seats, and QuietTuning® noise cancellation all come standard. Cargo space expands from about 23 cu. ft. to a maximum of 97.5 cu. ft. with both rear rows folded flat, with hidden underfloor storage for tools and other stuff you want to stash away. For growing families or those who routinely carry a full load of passengers, the Enclave is the clear standout.
